1 in 8 Billion: Where Will You End Up?
1 in 8 Billion asks a question that's easy to imagine but hard to answer: what would your life be like if you'd been born somewhere else? Maybe you'd grow up in a wealthy family, with every door open to you. Or maybe you'd grow up facing challenges that others never have to think about. This 2D life simulation lets you explore how different your life could be if you were born somewhere else.
No Choosing Your Starting Point!
Every time you start a new game, the world rolls the dice for you. Your character gets a random birthplace, family background, and social standing. You could land somewhere comfortable or somewhere where money is tight and daily life comes with extra hurdles.
Then the years start passing. School, work, family matters, health problems — sooner or later, something will demand your attention. You might make a decision that works out beautifully, only to face another problem a few years later. Honestly, life has a talent for ruining a perfectly good plan!
The game uses real-world statistical data to explore how birthplace and circumstances can affect a person's future. It also raises an uncomfortable question: how far can hard work take you when everyone starts with different opportunities?
Four Stats, Plenty to Worry About
Your character has four important stats to watch. Let one slide too far, and life can get messy.
Health: Don't neglect your health, or you might regret it later.
Happiness: A good job means little if your character is miserable.
Knowledge: Learning can lead to new opportunities and better career options.
Relationships: Friends and family provide support when things get rough.
These stats often pull you in different directions. Spending more time at work might help your finances, but what happens to your happiness or family life? There's no one right answer for every situation. You'll have to judge each event as it comes.
How to Play
Click Start and meet the character the game creates for you. As their life unfolds, you'll see event cards describing different situations. Read the options and click the one you want. Your decisions affect your stats and can change what happens later.
Check your character's condition regularly rather than waiting until everything goes wrong. If you're curious to see how a life turns out, you can speed up the timeline or pause to think through a tricky choice.
